The quality of life among the elderly is an issue that demands high societal attention. With the acceleration of population aging, enhancing the well-being of elderly has become a collective responsibility. To envelop the elderly with greater care and warmth, we have organized a nursing center visit project. Through this activity, we aim to create a memorable experience filled with love and compassion for the residents."
Through this close interaction, we came to deeply appreciate that the emotional world of elderly is far richer than commonly anticipated. Despite facing mobility challenges, many elderly retain a profound yearning to be recognized and a strong desire to engage in social activities. They were exceptionally eager to share their life stories and insights, often eagerly prolonging their conversations with our volunteers well after the event concluded. For instance, following the singing session, numerous residents approached us to share recollections of their favourite song from their youth. This overwhelming enthusiasm taught us the value of mindful observation and active listening, while completely dismantling our preconceived stereotypes of the elderly as passive or detached.
