Embracing the power of technology, the student and the team developed "WriteRight", an AI-powered educational tool designed to address the unique challenges faced by students with dyslexia in learning Chinese characters.
This project marked my first hands-on experience in shepherding a commercial product from its earliest ideation stages all the way to international exhibition floors. As part of a cross-functional team, I contributed to every phase, brainstorming the initial concept, developing a functional prototype, refining market strategies, and ultimately presenting our solution to the global audiences. This immersive journey not only sharpened my technical and communication skills but also taught me the transformative power of perseverance and user-centric innovation.
When our team embarked on building the prototype, I took ownership of the challenge and immersed myself in learning Flutter, a framework entirely new to me. The learning curve was steep, I spent nights debugging layout issues, wrestling with state management, and optimizing performance for our target devices. This experience ingrained in me a problem-solving mindset—breaking down challenges, leveraging resources, and iterating relentlessly. By the project’s end, I’d not only delivered a stable prototype but also gained confidence in my ability to self-learn complex technologies. Our initial market outreach revealed a critical disconnect between our product’s potential and educator trust. I learned the importance of effective communication during the refinement of market strategies.
The most rewarding moment came at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, where our idea gained recognition from the global audience. This experience taught me that innovation transcends borders, even non-Chinese speakers resonated with our mission to support students with reading and writing difficulties. Such cross-cultural validation deepened my appreciation for the product’s social impact.
The most precious takeaway from this journey was witnessing an idea evolve into reality. I’ve grown from being a creative student into a practitioner capable of turning ideas into tangible solutions. This end-to-end creation process has profoundly boosted my confidence and execution skills, proving that with perseverance, vision can become impact.
